New Faces
Allison Shields is our new Circulation and Stack Manager. She has a BS in Biology from College Misericordia. Alllison was previously the Manager of Quality Assurance for Home Diagnostics of Eatontown and Athletic Director at St. Peter School in Point Pleasant Beach.
Catherine Taintor, our new Library Assistant for Interlibrary Loan, worked as a copy and production editor in magazine publishing in New York .

New Databases
NetAdvantage (Standard & Poors)- This database covers information related to business, investments, stocks, company information and industry surveys. Resources include: Stock Reports, Mutual Fund Reports, Securities Dealers of North America, Register of Corporations, Directors and Executives, Industry Surveys, The Outlook and company data on 85,000 public and private companies.
Conference Board- Contains reports on key business topics, annual surveys, top executive compensation, corporate contributions, directorship compensation & board practices and CEO challenge. Other resources included: Executive action, StraightTalk, which gives economic analyses and forecasts, and the Across the Board magazine.
The Cochrane Library (Wiley Interscience Group)- Consists of a collection of regularly updated, evidence-based healthcare databases containing information and evidence to support health care decisions. The databases include: The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR), the Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE), the Cochrane Controlled Trials Register (CCTR), and the Cochrane Review Methodology Database (CRMD). These databases are produced by the Cochrane Collaboration, an international organization which analyzes healthcare interventions.
New Web Site Features
ArticleLinker- This summer, the Library implemented ArticleLinker, a service which provides direct access from an abstract in one database to full text in another database or to print/microfilm in our collection. This eliminates the time consuming step of using an extra tool to locate full text of an article.
Subject Guides- Most of our more than forty guides have been edited to reflect new resources and streamlined for ease of use.
Individual Research Consultation Service
Term paper crunch? Having trouble negotiating some of the library's print or electronic resources? Need suggestions about integrating library resources into courses or assignments? The MU librarians offer assistance to the University community in a variety of formats assistance at the reference desk (in person or by phone, 732 571-3438) and our popular new Ask a Librarian Service online service. Our individual research consultation service reference by appointment is also available for upper division students as a supplement to formal library instruction and one-on-one reference desk assistance. Office calls are available for faculty!

VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Program
As of January 2002, the college and university libraries in the VALE consortium agreed to extend reciprocal borrowing privileges to their respective full-time faculty and staff. As of June 16, 2004 , graduate students may also participate in the program. Full-time Monmouth University faculty, staff and graduate students may apply for borrowing privileges at participating libraries by completing an application form at the circulation desk in the Guggenheim Library.

New Home for Government Documents Collections
Since August 2004, the United States government documents and New Jersey government documents have been housed on compact shelving on the lower level of the new library addition. The Government Documents librarian, Susan Kadezabek, and her assistant, Arlene Boesch, are available for assistance in their office just to the right of the government documents collection.
