Research Help: Finding Full Text within the Databases
If you have a citation
If you already have a citation to an article (the author, article title, journal name, etc.), you can use the Journal Locator to find the full-text. Help using Journal Locator
When searching in the databases
When you are searching for articles in the databases, you will encounter several ways to get full text, depending on which database you are in.
In general, there are two formats for full text: HTML (plain text without graphics) and PDF (a scanned copy of the original print article). If available, always choose PDF. More on HTML vs. PDF
In Ebsco databases:
If Ebsco has its own full text, there will be links for HTML Full Text or PDF Full Text. Choose one of those.
If Ebsco does not have its own full text, the Get Article option will appear. This will point you to full text in another database, if available, through the Journal Locator. Help using "Get Article"
In Wilson databases:
If Wilson has its own full text, there will be symbols for HTML ( ) or PDF ( ). Click on one of those.
If Wilson does not have its own full text, the Get Article option will appear. This will point you to full text in another database, if available, through the Journal Locator. Help using "Get Article"
IMPORTANT: In Wilson databases, the Get Article symbol is displayed even when its own HTML or PDF full text is already available. Do not click on Get Article if the HTML or PDF symbols are there.
Remember to look to the left of each article title to check for its full text availability.
In Proquest Databases:
If Proquest has its own full text, there will be several different links available: Full text is HTML full text; Page Image is PDF; Text+Graphics is plain text with graphics added. Choose one of these.
If Proquest does not have its own full text, the Find a copy option will appear. ( Find a copy is the same as Get Article in other databases.) This will point you to full text in another database, if available, through the Journal Locator. Help using "Get Article"
