Research Help: Finding Full Text with the Journal Locator

When you already have a citation to an article (the author, article title, journal title, date, etc.), use the Journal Locator to find the full text of the article.

Finding the Journal Locator

Select Research Databases from the library home page.

Select Journal Locator from the Research Databases page.

You can also click Journal Locator in the blue bar on the left side of any page (except the home page).

Searching for a journal title

Type the title of the journal or periodical (not the article title) in the search box, then click Search.

Don't worry about capitalization.

Watch out for:

  • Spelling - it must be exact
  • If "and" is in the title, try it with both "and" and "&"

Checking Results

  • If you see "0 records retrieved for the search", ask a librarian or go to Step 4.
  • Make sure you look at the exact title you are looking for.
  • Clicking on Monmouth University Print Holdings will bring you to the GOALS library catalog so you can find the journal in print or microfilm.
  • For the electronic version, click on the link to any database that covers the year of your article.

If you still can't find the article ...

If your article is not available at Monmouth University in print, microfilm or from the Research Databases, you can do an Interlibrary Loan (ILL). To do this:

  • Select Library Services from the home page.
  • Select Interlibrary Loan from the Materials Services section of the page.
  • Select Article Request Form and fill out the form, remembering that all fields with a * are required.
