Roger Wieck, Department Head of Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts at the world-renown Morgan Library, graciously provided a private, ninety-minute presentation on the Morgan's collection of medieval Books of Hours. Students also got the chance to tour other areas of the Morgan Library, and saw the original manuscript of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, a Gutenberg Bible, the works of Charlotte Bronte, and many important cultural artifacts.
Already weary of saccharine Christmas music? Don't despair: the Monmouth University library provides Christmas fare of a higher caliber. The Monday after Thanksgiving (11/28) our traditional Christmas display on the second floor of the library (outside the Lewis Mumford Room) will be up! Featuring an array of rare books - from Dickens to Thackeray - the myriad works nonetheless share a full-throated embrace of yuletide cheer. Hope to see you soon!
